| Biography of David Everett Photography |
|
David Everett has been involved with photography since the age of 14 when he was given his first 35mm camera by his father. He sharpened his photo skills while attending Central Connecticut State College, joining the photo club along with the college newspaper, covering sporting events and campus life. With his interest in photography absorbing much of his time during these years, Mr. Everett sought out formal education, enrolling at the world renowned Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California in 1969. Focusing on Advertising Illustration and Color Technologies, he came to love the time spent at this campus, nestled in the foothills of the Los Padre mountain range with ready access to its scenic beauty, and Santa Barbara’s historic homes and buildings, as well as the nearby urban areas of Los Angeles and San Francisco. At this time he worked exclusively in the large, medium, and small (35mm) color and black & white film mediums.
Returning home to Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Mr. Everett established his own studio, doing work for several advertising agencies, shooting product advertisements for industrial trade journals and catalogs. Later, a transition back to his long standing involvement with the Asian martial arts turned Mr. Everett away from photography as his primary pursuit. He founded the White Lotus Martial Arts Center with his wife, Patricia. During this time, he maintained a studio adjacent to the martial arts center, taking photos of well known martial arts figures, as well as photos for martial arts magazine articles written by Patricia and him.
Today Mr. Everett photographs exclusively in the digital format, traveling locally to capture images of varied landscapes, architecture, and people. As his print collection continues to grow he hopes to exhibit more often, as he also maintains his website (www.deverettphotography.com), and serves as photographer and web designer for several commercial websites. A father of three grown children, Mr. Everett has been a Newington resident for thirty years. He presently works as an information technology engineering specialist for a large financial services company. |
